CDT News 3-13-09

Spring is almost here, thank heavens! Tulips and daffodils are starting to peek out, so we know its coming. Hear at CDT we will be rearranging the showroom, and unpacking lots of new things. Be sure to look for the vibrant new fabrics from Highland Court, and tables from Maitland Smith, and Mayland Court. We cannot help getting these names confused, so don't feel bad if you mix them up!!
Farewell to Wendy
We are sorry to say that our wonderful receptionist, Wendy Khalil, will be leaving us March 24th. Wendy's husband Sam has taken a great new job in California. This will be good for them, because Wendy's daughter, Liz, lives in LA. All of us at CDT are very sad to see her go. We will truly miss her tremendous knowledge, wonderful sense of humor, efficiency, and last but not least, her amazing baking! She has been MUCH more than her official title implies. We wish Wendy and Sam a wonderful new life in sunny California!

Sales
Remember to check the monthly sale flyer at the end of the Duralee cabinet. There are great deals on Hunter Douglas, Century, Chatham Crossing, Sarreid and Superior.
ADO has announced a promotion of $50 off retail on drapery orders up to $600 per window and $100 off orders over $600 per window. With deals like these, we should be doing our own houses!

New accessories
New lamps and mirrors from Uttermost are here, and new accessories from Oriental Accents and Uttermost are on order and should be here soon. Make the most of these great new things by taking a carload out to update or finish your clients room.
Marketing and selling during difficult times
This is the main focus of our efforts this spring. Regardless of how big your business is, it is more important than ever to hone your sales and marketing skills and to increase your effort in these areas. We all need to focus on finding the business that is out there, and to close more sales once we have the opportunity to be in front of a client.

At CDT, we are looking for new ideas as to how we can help you improve business, AND how we can improve OUR business. As always, if there is anything you would like to suggest to us, constructive criticisms, product ideas etc, we always welcome your feedback.

Marketing tip for the week
Work hard to improve your sales skills!!! If you have fewer appointments, it is critical to close your sales. If you are in front of a client, you need to make it count by getting the order every time. There are many good sales training books available. Some you might want to consider are:

Integrity Selling by Ron Willingham (1987, but excellent, he has a new one also)
The Great Little Book on Successful Selling by Brian Tracy
Selling for Dummies by Tom Hopkins and Ben Kench

The above authors, along with Tony Robbins Earl Nightingale and Og Mandino are the BIG names in sales training.

The Little Red Book of Selling by Jeffery Gitomer
This one is at the newsstands everywhere, including the airport.

Selling is part of your job. Get good at it. Get comfortable with it. Lets face it, if no one buys product from you, do you really have a design business? CDs that you listen to in the car are widely available, and a painless way to learn.

If you have an appointment that does not go well, we would be happy to sit down with you to analyze it. Just give us a call.

We challenge you to improve your sales skills...and your income as well!

It's time for Hunter Douglas "Premiers"! See the flyer below for details. Print the flyer, fill it out and fax it back to CDT with your list of attendees!
