Would You be Interested in LEED Certification???
The Arlington Design Center has been approached as a possible location for the LEED Green Associate Training. This 2 day, 6-8 hour Exam Preparation class would cost $259 per student, which includes class materials. In addition, the 2 study guides and the exam itself would run around $300.
We would need at least 6 participants in order to hold the course here.
Please let us know if you are interested. If there is enough interest, we will work on dates.

We had an interesting situation arise here today at CDT. One of our vendors called and reported that they had just discovered that they had upholstered one of our orders in the wrong fabric. The pieces were at Elite, waiting for delivery. When the paperwork at the factory was being filed and the order closed out, they discovered the error, because CDT had attached a swatch of the correct fabric to the order. I am sharing this story with you because designers frequently want to forgo attaching swatches to their orders. Typically we insist on it, and this situation is a perfect example of why that swatch is critical. Now, the vendor is responsible, not the designer, not CDT, and there is no question about it. The extra few days it may take to get that swatch is far less than the weeks of phone calls, followup and client appeasement that would be required if the wrong upholstery showed up at your client's door. In this business we deal daily with problems that are not of our making. This is one way to eliminate a common problem. We suggest you send swatches with EVERYTHING including drapery jobs. It's all about peace of mind!
Lets hope they are wrong and it doesn't snow this weekend!

During the menswear segment on , Joe Giglio from Terrazo Marble helped Worthwear's Kathryn Gould demonstrate how a custom shirt is measured. There was a great turnout, good refreshments and lots of fun for all.

As usual spring is a busy time in our industry. Lots going on here at the Arlington Design Center. The list at the right will be growing as new events are added. Someone was at CDT the other day looking for a Thomas Paul fabric from Duralee, which we were not able to find. Lo and behold, the new Thomas Paul collection showed up today! Stop back in and we will help you find it.

The Illinois chapter of ASID is calling for entries for the 2010 Design Excellence Awards. Many of you have done beautiful work this past year that merits recognition. If you are an ASID member, OR a registered designer in the state of Illinois, you are eligible to submit your work.
