12-18-09

We are now in the part of December where the days seem to be compressed into minutes, and Christmas is just around the corner. How could it already be December 17? We want to thank Joyce Konstantinow of Blooms and Rooms for giving our showroom such a festive flavor! We are so happy to have her help throughout the year. Silk and Things and Flowers by Design also help keep our showroom looking great.

We have gotten several shipments of accessories, lamps and artwork these past couple of weeks, so if you need anything, stop in!

Remember, we have lots of great little clocks. Many of these would make great gifts for clients, and the wristwatch style alarm clocks are great for those hard-to shop for men.

Hard Window Treatment News
Important installation info: Effective January 1, CDT will no longer be billing you for R.Perotti installations. Please have your client pay him directly at the time of installation, or be prepared to do so yourself. All other window treatment procedures will remain the same.

Many of have heard that there is a huge recall on roman shades. This primarily applies to shades with the loop that runs down the front, across
the bottom and up the back of the shade. Hunter Douglas has been a leader in child safety measures, so none of their products are affected by this recall.

Fashion Tech is in the process of determining which, if any of their products will be affected. Rest assured that we will keep you informed of any important developments.

Charleston Forge

Charleston Forge is one of our favorite vendors. We've done business with them for years and have watched the product line evolve as fashions change. We love this collection of little accent tables, available in many finishes, with several choices of tops. We will have some on the showroom floor very soon. Bar stools, dining tables and chairs, bakers racks and all kinds of accent pieces round out this collection. Some items can be custom sized, so always ask--we will be happy to get you a quote.
Hunter Douglas Alustra Presentation
Mark your calendars for January 27. ChrisAnn Komosa will teach us what we need to know to sell the gorgeous Alustra collection. Topics include being able to answer the question"Why Alustra?", understanding the difference between Alustra and other products, and undemanding the Alustra consumer. As a designer, your clients expect you to be on top of the latest looks at a higher style than they would find at a retailer. Alustra is available ONLY at a few, carefully chosen establishments. CDT is delighted to be part of that elite group. Take advantage of that fact and attend this seminar!

Don't Forget--
If you are selling, or have sold Architella shades this year, your client may be eligible for a Federal Tax Credit up to $1,500!!! We NOW have the forms at CDT. There are some restrictions so make sure to check on the form. This is retroactive to January 1, 2009 and runs through December 31, 2010. What a fantastic selling tool.
Artifacts Promotion

From now until MARCH 31, 2010 (yes, that is not a typo), Artifacts is offering a great deal on upgraded finishes: You can choose any finish, including B, C, or Premium for the price of an "A" finish!

What a great opportunity to present this magnificent collection to your customers!
TOASTING THE TOP TEN!
We have our list! Invitations will be going out soon! Watch this space for the announcement of the 2009 CDT Top Ten! Some returning designers, several new faces, congratulations to all of them!

For your information, CDT takes showroom sales, and combines it with Robert Allen and Duralee sales and combine them for a total. Any sales after December 15 will count for next year.

SAVE THE DATE!!

We are pleased to announce that we will once again be honoring our top customers at a lovely evening in their honor. The festivities will take place on Wednesday, January 20. Details will follow in this space and by special invitation. If you think you may be one of these lucky and hard working designers, mark your calendars, but don't kick back! There is still time for the numbers to change through December 15! One big sale can make all the difference, so close those sales soon---we would love to have you join us.

Have a nice weekend!
Sincerely,

Vicki Martin and Camille Sullivan
Chicago Design Team
